I guess it depends on the job, it actually worked out well for me; I worked at turbo speed and was super sharp/critical. They say the same for depression, that's why workoholics exist.
Instead of hitting the bottle, do something constructive, with that anger, use it as energy... then at least, you have made a few quid at the end of it. That's what I did after my last breakup, actually; I just immersed myself in work to not think about it too much and had good money waiting for me by the time I'd snapped out of it.
